Capacity building training on CSOs engagement strategy in elections in Ethiopia
Consortium of Ethiopian Human Rights Organizations (CEHRO), in partnership with Freedom House, delivered a capacity building training on CSOs engagement strategy in elections in Ethiopia. CEHRO recently conducted an assessment of CSOs engagement in local elections in Ethiopia, and based on the research findings revised its 2020 engagement strategy in general election, and developed a well-informed comprehensive CSOs engagement strategy in election including local elections and other forms of election recognized by NEBE. The training was facilitated based on the revised engagement strategy, and the trainees were invited from CSO networks at regional and federal levels because their reach out tendency to the wider CSOs and citizens. CSOs play a crucial role in promoting transparency, accountability, and civic participation in the electoral processes. By equipping CSOs with the necessary knowledge and skills of consistent engagement strategy, we are strengthening their ability to contribute to free, fair, and credible elections in Ethiopia. This training workshop, which brought together representatives from various CSOs across the country, provided participants with comprehensive training on election observation, voter education, and advocacy strategies. We are confident that the training provided during this workshop will empower CSOs to play a meaningful role in ensuring that Ethiopia’s upcoming elections are conducted in a transparent, participatory, and inclusive manner.
